As part of a unique initiative aimed at developing the sensory and motor needs of children with Developmental Co-Ordination Disorder, we now have a dedicated resource teacher and studio where DCD/Movement & Exercises Sessions are practised with a specialist teacher.

The focus of the DCD group is to improve the children’s overall production, focus and attention while in class and about school. Children attend a daily movement exercise routine with a defined focus of developing their core muscles, posture and gross motor skills as well as strength, flexibility, agility, endurance through a range of yoga and core strengthening exercises.

Movement has been shown by educational, cognitive, psychological, medical, and behavioural research to be one of the best ways to get all children - typical and special needs alike - to gain control over their behaviour and to engage with and retain what is being taught to them.
